Grasp 4

Grasp 4
A pair of ceramic candlesticks made from black clay with a white glaze. Artist: Binda Colebrook
About the Grasp Candlestick
Each Grasp Candlestick is the result of the action imprinted on the clay as it is “grasped” by the artist’s hand.
“To grasp is one of the foundational movements we learn to make as we develop. To do so can be very settling - think about the sensation of a loved ones hand slipping into yours and the way your fingers close around theirs.”

About the artist
Binda Colebrook is an artist and a psychotherapist. Her art practice has shifted in the last two years. She recognized that a lot of work prior to the pandemic year of 2020 was grief work, stuck in a repetitive exploration and expression of suffering and hurt.
The slowing down that 2020 invited led Binda to read more, go out into the woods more and engage with nature more. What she found along the way was the power of connection to Self, and to our planet, the mother of us all.
Binda now puts her energy into finding the center within and encouraging others to do the same. She does that by making work that invites the opening of the sensory gates to the metaphysical background.
